Example of Qualitative Data

Qualitative data is a description, rather than a quantification, of information. Instead of using numerical data, the qualitative approach refers to characteristics of information. This data is used to assess the nature of information which would otherwise be no more than numbers, with no oversight of the reliability of the information.

Examples of Qualitative Data:

The quantitative figures for a grain harvest show that 100,000 tons of grain were harvested. The qualitative data indicates that 10% of the grain was unfit for sale due to fungal rot, 15% was unsuitable for human consumption, and should be used as animal feed.
